Fred Silber is a well known and highly respected professional photographer in the Baltimore Metropolitan area.
For over 40 years he, along with his wife have owned and operated a very successful photography business, Silber Photography. They have documented generations of family celebrations along with having had the distinct honor of photographing numerous politicians, including President Bill Clinton, Senators Hilary Clinton, Barbara Mikulski and Joe Lieberman and celebrities, Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters and Yitzhak Perlman to name a few.
Four of his portraits of retired Federal Magistrates are prominently displayed in the Federal Courthouse in Baltimore.
Over the years he has been honored with numerous awards through the Maryland Professional Photographers Association (MDPPA), the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association (SEPPA) and the Professional Photographers Association of America (PPA), including the prestigious Fuji Masterpiece Award, exhibition at the Epcot Center and inclusion in the Permanent Loan Collection with PPA.
In 2011 he and his sister, who writes poetry, published a Fine Art photography/poetry book, “A Dozen Roses”, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Breast Cancer research and treatment programs. His Fine Art work has appeared in many exhibitions, private collections and three of his large Rose Watercolor images are on permanent display at the University of Maryland Hospital Breast Care Center.
Additionally his book has been distributed to breast cancer patients at Johns Hopkins Hospital, St. Agnes Hospital and University of Maryland Hospital. The book and Rose images are also available for purchase through the website.
While weddings, social events and portraits were their main focus, Fred has recently turned his attention to Residential, Commercial & Corporate Real Estate Photography, while continuing his successful Portrait and Fine Art business. His specialties include executive portraits for website and promotional use, families, children, pets, equestrian portraits and Corporate Events.
He currently teaches “Fundamentals & Foundations of Photography” classes as well as workshops focusing on composition, lighting and special techniques to help his students learn how to “Make Pictures and Not Just Take Pictures”.
